EVALUATION PROCEDURES

IN MOST INSTANCES, TESTING IS PERFORMED ON AN OUTPATIENT BASIS.  PATIENTS MAY SPEND ONE OR TWO NIGHTS IN THE FACILITY, WHERE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES MAY BE PERFORMED...

ONLINE SLEEP SURVEYS

PSG

POLYSOMNOGRAPHY

This painless overnight test consists of continuous monitoring of sleep stages, heart function, respiration, airflow exchange, blood oxygen levels, and muscle activity.  There is audio and video contact at all times.

MSLT

MULTIPLE SLEEP LATENCY TESTING

This procedure is performed during the daytime to determine a patients degree of sleepiness.  Usually performed after the polysomnograph, the MSLT consists of five separate naps spaced two hours apart.  This test is the determining factor when diagnosing narcolepsy or central nervous system hypersomnolence.
